abstract = {We present a phylogenetic analysis of 131 species of Paspalum and related genera based on both chloroplast and nuclear markers. A total of 115 species of Paspalum were sampled, including taxa of all 4 subgenera considered. Anachyris, Ceresia, Harpostachys, and Paspalum, with 27 of the 28 informal groups in the latter subgenus analyzed. Monophyly of the subgenera, and informal groups, is discussed and related to morphological, cytological and anatomical evidence. The inclusion of related genera, i.e., Reimarochloa, Spheneria and Thrasyopsis, in Paspalum is also discussed.
